The evoStim®E therapeutic unit is an electromedical device intended for perineal rehabilitation by intravaginal electrostimulation and electromyographic biofeedback. It must be used on the advice of a doctor or a qualified therapist to perform perineal stimulation or biofeedback by means of intracavitary probes (vaginal or anal).
It is designed for professional use as well as for personal and direct patient use.
Biofeedback is of the EMG type, and it can be administered both perineally (with a vaginal or anal probe) and transcutaneously (with adhesive electrodes). Given that the acquired EMG signal is of the order of a few μV, EMG biofeedback also requires the application of a transcutaneous reference electrode, essential for the elimination of electrical interference.
The visual feedback, on the screen, consists in the lighting of a number of concentric circles proportional to the pressure exerted on the balloon of the probe by the perineal muscles, during a voluntary contraction. With the full scale auto-calibration feature, administering biofeedback programs is relatively simple with the evoStim®E unit.
